Main tasks of SCM in managing the warehouse, Logistic and Distribution

In working in a warehouse, though full of instincts and of thought, several times I wanted the ideal stage to synchronize with the prevailing theories in the field of logistics. One theory that is in the field of logistics is the Supply Chain Management (SCM). So while working on a region full implementation and practice, theory does not mean forgotten.

One of the definitions of Supply Chain Management  (SCM) is the planning and management of all activities and sources involved in the procurement, conversion, and all Logistics Management activities. Importantly, it also includes coordination and collaboration with channel partners, which can be suppliers, intermediaries, third-party service providers, and customers. In essence, Supply Chain Management integrates and demand management within and across enterprises.

Some literature distinguishes logistics management (logistics management) with the Supply Chain Management (SCM), some say the logistics management is a part of Supply Chain Management (SCM), there is also said management of logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) can have areas that overlap, for me to explain in full Supply Chain Management (SCM) logistics management, arguably the renewal of management own logistics.


Elements of Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Supplier Relationship Management, Internal Supply Chain Management, and Customer Relationship Management. Logistics Management might then play a lot on the Internal Chain Management.


Supply Chain Management (SCM) performance
SCM measurements can be seen through a few things: Cycle stocks, DPMO (Defect per Million Order), Productivity ratio (cost, number of employees, etc.), running time, availability of information, customer service. In some cases, performance had to be in the form of quantitative, if performance levels are in qualitative, quantitative performance of the image that must be built. Such as: customer service, in serving a customer service warehouse must perform within the shortest possible time and make priorities of the complaint is served. In quick service, and proper communication then the consumer will feel the quality is good or at least the image or images that appear there have been attempts to do service as optimal as possible.

Difficulty Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Supply Chain Management  (SCM) has a number of limitations which led to some companies or regions in Indonesia it is difficult to apply. Just a simple example concerning the availability of materials from suppliers. Warehouse difficult to get a shipment of goods in the amount and timing. If the ordered item 300, while capacity was 200 cars suppliers, then suppliers will wait for another incoming orders from the warehouse number 100, in order to send a fitting number 2 cars to the warehouse. Prolonged waiting times the estimated production output is not interrupted and appropriate forecasting. Being my fantasy overseas how to overcome problems like this simple, little problems that make the Supply Chain Management  (SCM) can not be done in full.
