Effective ways to manage warehouse

Bookmark and Share
In an attempt to create a comfortable atmosphere and safe warehouse, there are some good ways to manage warehouse:

1. Routine reporting data
2. The walls, roof, floor
3. Cleanliness of toilets and canteen
4. Pallets, racks
5. Forklift, hand pallet, loading dock
6. Lighting,
7. Ventilation and Air Temperature

1. Daily reporting of data

The purpose of the inclusion of achievement they will be as benchmark how far the achievements or failures we experience. If all employees know the true conditions on the performance of the warehouse, then as a strong operational team certainly will take a strategic step to run the next plan.

2. The walls, roof, floor

Security is a necessary condition that must be guaranteed 100%, because security is one type of service expected by users of the warehouse. Make sure the walls of the warehouse in good condition, no holes or perforated easy to insert / remove the goods / human.

Make sure also that the walls of the warehouse is not fragile, so easy to collapse. The roof also needs to be checked for safe condition of the leak when it rains. When the right to determine the condition of the roof is when it rains, look for drops of water and immediately put a note in which the occurrence of leaks to be repaired.

The floor became the principal requirements in terms of guaranteeing cleanliness and safety of goods. Dusty, dirty floor will certainly make things too dirty and dusty. Not to mention the health problems of employees. While the floor is perforated / corrugated signs need to be made for forklit / hand pallet not through it.

3. Cleanliness of toilets and working equipment
To see the quality of a barn, look at the condition of the bathroom / toilet. Must wise words might be helpful to apply in all warehouses. Cleanliness of toilets, and other employee facilities do not directly affect the performance warehouse, but indirectly will create moral and physical support that very well against other warehouse employees and visitors. Actually not too hard to create this clean if done with discipline and good control

4. Pallets, Racks
Nail that stands out above the pallet is often regarded as the norm. Though this nail can cause a fatal event for the goods on them and perhaps also for employees who happened to step on this pallet. Nail that stands out is also directly reduce the holding capacity of existing wood on the pallet and it is certainly very dangerous. Dust from dirt pallet can cause dirty and possibly contaminated items

While the rack without nails stuck in the pole may also often be considered normal, but just as pallets without nails the strength of tie between the iron rack becomes weak when the forklift lifting pallets from the rack if it touches the shelf above it can be fatal.

5. Forklift, Hand pallets, Loading dock

Nursing forklift, hand pallet or loading dock is conducted regularly and schedule will give the 'guarantee' of security and safety is more uncertain. Ensure all maintenance procedures and handling of work equipment we are always in tip top condition prior to use.

6. Lamp lighting

Scientifically it takes light at least 200 lumens.

Appropriate lighting will provide certainty in the preparation of the goods at the time picker read from picking the destination list to the rack or between racks also ensure that clearly visible. Some warehouses are recommended to play the songs that spirit is not lilting or too romantic. Avoid playing a favorite song that only one course or the songs that are too spectacular. Instrumental could be one alternative to choose from.

7. Ventilation and Air Temperature

Make sure no air vents are blocked goods or closed anything that disrupts the smooth rotation of the air. If you need to make sure that the temperature of storage space is always recorded and controlled to conform to the standard temperature of the stored goods. Even in the chemical industry for example, there are items that should always be stored at a temperature specified in order to avoid an explosion or in the consumer goods industry is a commodity that requires a specific temperature for the goods are not damaged texture.

Safety should also be standard practice in the workplace. The employer should take the lead by introducing a safety protocol across all segments of the business. On the part of the employee, it is their duty to stand by these safety protocols -- for their own sake as well as the sake of their co-workers.

Aside from using this article as a guideline, warehouse managers may also effectively use their time to be familiar with warehouse work itself, since a hands-on approach is best to determine how well the warehouse operates. Point out areas where improvement can still be done to maximize workflow and achieve better product output. More importantly, consider helping your employees on difficult tasks, and listen to their opinions regarding specific concerns.
