Many companies are fixated on the election software inventory and the project stalled in the inability to analyze. If you want the inventory process / procedures / systems could be better, we recommend starting with a solution of our system where it's included software, printers and portable barcode scanners. Here's why:
1. This allows you to prove to the team of your company that this technology will save time and money in the long term.
2. The point of entry is cheap and after the initial inventory gives instant savings.
3. If you decide to change or upgrade your inventory system in the future, all information from the system can easily be imported into the new system.Apart from the software inventory barcode or barcode scanner you choose, you should make a list of inventory barcode system:
1. Make a master list of everything that may be in the warehouse or storage space. This will include item number, unit size and minimal description. It also can include the cost of purchasing, vendors, the minimum amount of inventory (the amount you should always have on hand), and other relevant information relating to the item. Put the list in Microsoft Excel worksheet, because from there you can apply the solution to the inventory. If you do not currently have a master list of ingredients you should be able to easily get from your suppliers. Just ask them (or tell them you'll stop order until you get it). This will minimize your time to have to make it while you also have to work on this system.
2. Attach barcodes on inventory items and locations. Most products that come from the factory come with a barcode attached. This bar code has a number of items written in the text below the barcode. If you have installed a barcode, then your efforts here may be helpful. You do, however, must ensure that the barcodes on the items match the number of items in your master list in step 1 above.
It is also imperative to manage and print barcode labels within the facility. Even if all your material comes from your vendor with the appropriate bar code, you'll still find that you must create a label for the location and i labels for the goods back from time to time.
There are various methods that can be used to print barcodes. We recommend the lowest cost alternative to get started - barcode fonts. Barcode fonts give you a cheap and flexible way to print labels quickly with high resolution and low initial investment.
Barcode location is important because the purpose of the inventory system is to know not only what you have, but to be able to say accurately where it all, it means you can get efisiensi with barcode location. Let's look at an example:
Say that you have a shipping warehouse with 2 doors, 6 shelves hallway, with storage shelves on each side of the aisle. When you receive the supplies to the dock, you may use a barcode location "DOCK1" or "DOCK2" to indicate that the materials that lie behind these doors. If you go to put them, you may place them at the location of "A3-B4-S6," which is an aisle 3, shelf 6, level 4. The important thing to understand here is that the bar code location must not only be understood by the inventory system (not really care as long as the location and unique barcode that can be read), but also that it means something to people who place or retrieve items. These steps will take a little time, but the good news is that this is the hardest part (from the standpoint of actual work) to compile a barcode inventory system. Try to ensure that you have at least enough time to run the whole of this process. Make sure that everyone's expectations realistic about the level of effort required for this step.
